William M. Nugent, 93, passed away peacefully at home in the presence of his family on Tuesday, May 6, 2014. His wife of 66 years, Helen P. (McGowan) Nugent died in 2012. He is survived by siblings Barbara Nugent, Richard Nugent, and Robert Nugent; six children Margaret Nugent and Brian Meehan, Martin Nugent and Nancy, Mark Nugent, Michael Nugent, Mary Ellen and Michael Sheehan, and Matthew Nugent and Andrea Hanses; 11 grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was born in Worcester, son of Sarah (Grant) and Maurice Nugent. He served in the Navy during WWII . Bill was employed by the City of Worcester Police Department where he served for 31 years before retiring.
Calling hours at Nordgren Memorial Chapel, 300 Lincoln Street will be held Thursday, May 8, from 5-8 pm. The funeral will be held Friday, May 9, with a Mass at 11 am in Our Lady of the Rosary, 23 Fales Street, Worcester. Burial will follow in St. John's Cemetery.
