…Tewksbury’s Oldest citizen; 102
TEWKSBURY - Anna A. (Adario) Ippolito, age 102, Tewksbury’s oldest citizen, featured in newspaper articles for the award of “Tewksbury’s Boston Post Cane,” last year, died peacefully, Monday afternoon, May 5, at the Blaire House of Tewksbury, with her family at her side. She was the wife of the late Vincent J. Ippolito, who predeceased her in 1999. Anna received many citations congratulating her for her milestone birthdays from President Barack and Michelle Obama, U. S. Senator Elizabeth Warren and Senator Barry Finegold, Congressman John Tierney, Speaker of the House Robert DeLeo, State Representative Jim Micelli, Governor Deval Patrick and all of Tewksbury’s Board of Selectmen.
Mrs. Ippolito was born in Cambridge, February 22, 1912, one of eight children of the late Vincenzo and Domenica (Barbetta) Adario. She lived in Cambridge for ninety five years. During her career, she worked at Dewey & Almy Company and Teledyne Crystalonics, both located in Cambridge, retiring from Crystalonics in 1977. She moved to Tewksbury in 2005, and joined the St. William’s Parish community.
She is survived by six children, Constance Castelhano of CA, James Ippolito and his wife Beverly of FL, Barbara Ciommo of Malden, John Ippolito of CA, Ronald Ippolito and his wife Josie of CA, and Susan Broussard and her husband John of Tewksbury; her 15 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren, 9 great, great grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind her Blaire House family, including her dear friend Linda Antonucci.
She was predeceased by her siblings, Carlo, John, Susan, Rose, Patrick, Mary, and Alice.
Her Funeral Mass was celebrated Monday, May 12, in St. William’s Church, Tewksbury. Entombment followed in Mt. Auburn Cemetery, Cambridge. Donations in Anna’s name may be made to RARA (Recreational Adult Resource Association), 295 High Street, Lowell, MA 01852.
