Funeral from the J. Frank Conley Home 138 Belmont St. (Rte 123) Brockton Wednesday at 10 am. Funeral Mass in Our Lady of Lourdes Church at 11 am. Burial in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation 9:30 – 10:30 am before the Mass.
Obituary
Mr. Markey died Saturday morning at his home under the care of hospice after a period of failing health.
He was born in Brockton the son of the late Frank J. and Sophia A. (Keene) Markey and had been a resident of Brockton until retiring and moving to Chatham in 1972. In 1990 he and his wife moved to Fleet Landing Community in Atlantic Beach, Florida.
Mr. Markey was a graduate of Brockton High School Class of 1923 and the attended Boston University. During WW II he served in the US Naval Air Corps and was discharged with the rank of Lt. Commander.
Before his retirement Mr. Markey had been the proprietor of Markey’s Inc. a well known clothing store in downtown Brockton.
He had been a member of the Clover Club of Boston, Beacon Society in Boston, Seville Council Knights of Columbus, Brockton and a member of the 4th degree Cardinal O’Connell Assembly.
While a resident of Brockton Mr. Markey was a communicant of Our Lady of Lourdes Church.
