Marie Melrose Pafford Troupe, 87, of Athens, Alabama, died Sunday, May 4, 2014, at Brookshire Health Care in Huntsville, Alabama. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, May 12, 2014, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals. Rev. Chuck Yzenski will officiate with burial to follow at Turner Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Saturday, May 10, 2014, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Mrs. Troupe was born on February 12, 1927 in Pearson and was the daughter of Jesse Dewey Pafford and Katie Mae Bennett Pafford, both deceased. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Etheridge Troupe, who passed away in December 2001. They were married on April 27, 1952. In addition to her parents and her husband, she was also preceded in death by two brothers, Marvin Pafford and Jimmy Pafford; and one sister, Betty Ann Pafford.
Mrs. Troupe is survived by five sons and three daughters-in-law, Edward and Tammy Troupe, Leslie Troupe, Michael Troupe, Kary and Kelli Troupe, and Monroe and Aundra Troupe; one step-son and his wife, Kenneth and Carolyn Troupe; three brothers, Gerald Pafford, Jesse Pafford and Kenneth Pafford; two sisters, “Melba” Ruth Roberts and Edith Holly; and several grandchildren.
Honorary pallbearers will be the food service employees of the United States Space and Rocket Center in Huntsville, Alabama.
