Albert L. "Bud" Fisher, 83, of Fairhaven peacefully passed away on Friday May 2nd after a period of declining health. He was the husband of Anne M. (McCormick) Fisher.
Born and raised in New Bedford son of the late Albert W. and Helena (McCormick) Fisher, he lived in Fairhaven most of his life.
Albert served honorably as a Sergeant in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War. He was awarded multiple medals including the Korean Service Medal with two stars and the Korean Presidential Unit Citation. Albert was a member of several veteran associations including the VFW. He worked for New England Telephone/Verizon for 40 years. Bud cherished his time with his family and friends on Wilbur Point. His favorite past times were hunting and fishing especially over on his beloved Nantucket where he lived as a young child for several years.
He is survived by his wife; his 6 children, Elizabeth J. Fisher and husband Ricardo Kuhner of Fairhaven, MA, Thomas M. Fisher and partner Lavonne Straley of Atlanta, GA, Kathleen M. Nelson and husband Peter of Mattapoisett, MA, Mary-Kate Moura and husband Michael of Fairhaven, MA, Anne Marie Leonard and husband Arthur of Lakeville, MA and Margaret O. Fisher of Fairhaven, MA; four grandchildren, Shannon Kelly Mitchell, Sean Patrick Mitchell and wife Jessica (Osuch) Mitchell, Nicolas C. Nelson and fiancée Taylor Hughes and Alex P. Nelson; and many nieces and nephews.
He was the brother of the late Joan Lajeunesse and the late William H. Fisher.
His Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Friday, May 9th at 10 AM in St. Lawrence Church. Visiting hours Thursday, May 8th from 4-8 PM in the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford.
