WAYLAND: Barbara J. (McNeil) Young, 85, died comfortably on Thursday, May 1, 2014 following a brief period of declining health.
She was born in North Attleboro on January 6, 1929 the daughter of the late George E. McNeil and Jean (Fontaine) McNeil.
Barbara was the loving wife for 60 years of the late Edward H. “Ed” Young, Jr. who died on April 17, 2006.
She is survived by her children Barbara A. Cappey and her husband Philip of West Dennis and Valerie J. Giguere and her husband David of Merrimack, NH. Also survived by her sister Helen Youngdahl and her husband Ernest of Northborough. She leaves 7 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews.
Barbara spent her formative years in Wrentham and graduated from Wrentham High School with the Class of 1946. In July of 1946 she married the love of her life Edward. They lived in Natick for a period of time before moving to their home in Wayland. For several years she was associated with the Wayland School system in the cafeteria department at Claypit Hill and Happy Hollow School before retiring. She loved to spend time with her husband, enjoyed the view of Dudley Pond and taking long drives with Ed. Barbara enjoyed knitting and was an accomplished seamstress. She was devoted to her family and was a wonderful neighbor who will be greatly missed by them. Barbara loved to shop and had a wonderful gift of interior design which she loved to do at her home.
Visitations will be held on Sunday, May 4, 2014 from 4:00 to 7:00 pm in the Bryant Memorial Chapel of the John C. Bryant Funeral Home, 56 Pemberton Road (Off Rte 30), Wayland.
Graveside services will be held on Monday, May 5, 2014 at 11:00 AM at the Young family lot in Lakeview Cemetery, Route 30, Wayland,
