Obituary

Richard A. Heald age 87 of Salem, NH, died peacefully, with his family at his side Wednesday at the Merrimack Valley Hospice House, Haverhill, MA.

He was born in New Milford, CT. He grew up in Connecticut and Vermont.

Mr. Heald was a retired SSGT for the United States Air Force, He also served in the US Navy and Army, where he was in World War II, and served during Korea, and Vietnam. He also worked for Gillette for 10 years in Boston and Andover, MA. He was an active life member of the American Legion in Salem, where he held several positions, including Post Commander.. Richard liked odd jobs, and loved to collect, fix, and sell things. He loved to fix up and sell used cars, and owned and operated Richard Heald Classics LLC. He was always industrious and had a side job.

He was predeceased by his son in law: Hazen Hale and a sister Jean Ireland.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years: Elizabeth M. (Lyman) Heald of Salem

Daughters: Deborah and husband Tim Rich of Arizona
Donna Hale of Rowley, MA

Sister: Phyllis Olson of Boulder, CO

Grandchildren: James, John and Maranda Rich, Matthew and Benjamin Hale

Calling hours will be Monday, May 5th from 5-6:30 PM, followed by a memorial service at 6:30 PM at Douglas & Johnson Funeral Home, 214 Main St., Salem, NH. Urn burial will be Tuesday at 11 AM at the NH State Veterans Cemetery, Boscawen, NH.
