Mary C.,(Monaco) Vena, age 98, lifelong resident of Medford, peacefully passed away on April 29th with her devoted nieces at her side. Mary was the daughter of the late Emanuel and Michelina (Ciavarella) Monaco, and wife of the late Oresto “Ralph” Vena, a decorated WWII war hero. She was the sister of Albert Monaco and his wife Julia of Scituate, and the late Grace Norcia and her husband Louis, Anne Dreano and her husband Edward, Edith DiMella and her husband Nicholas, Michael Monaco and his wife Flora, Joseph Monaco and his wife Eunice, and his second wife Jean. Mary was the aunt of Antoinette Faria and her late husband Lawrence, Joanne Pierro and her husband James, Theresa Monaco, Ann Mitchell, Maria Bettencourt and her husband David, Thomas Monaco, Karen Monaco, Michael Monaco and his wife Beth, Mary Lake and her husband John, Michelle Ricciardi and her husband Robert, Michael DiMella and his wife Terri, Joseph Monaco, Peter Monaco and his wife Bertha, and the late Heather Monaco. When Mary’s mother was ill, Mary became the second mother for the family. A marvelous cook and quick wit, Mary will be tremendously missed by all that knew her and her spirit will remain in the hearts of all.
Funeral from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., MEDFORD Monday at 10 AM followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Joseph Church, 118 High Street, Medford, at 10:30 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend and may visit with the family from 9 - 10 AM.
Services will conclude with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.
