Mary Alice King
Augusta, GA – Entered into rest Thursday, May 1, 2014, Mrs. Mary Alice Mulherin King, 64, loving wife of Thomas J. King, Sr.
Mrs. King was a native and lifelong resident of Augusta. She was a 1968 graduate of Aquinas and earned her Specialist Degree in Education from Augusta College in 1991. She retired after 33 years from the Richmond County Board of Education. Mrs. King was a member of St. Mary on the Hill Catholic Church.
Family members in addition to her husband include her daughters: Allison Crow and husband Joe, Ashley Dutton; son: Joseph Lowery; stepson: Tom King, Jr.; stepdaughter: Christina King; grandchildren: Katie Crow, Chance Crow, McKenzie Dutton, Cameron Lowery, Boone Lowery, Trinity and Colton King, Destiny, John, and Kyle Coleman; sisters: Janet Mulherin Gibson (Bob), Estelle Mulherin Duncan (Byron); and a brother: Dr. Joseph Louis Mulherin, Jr. (Cindy).
Mary Alice was a woman dedicated to others. She was a voice for the voiceless. She was respected by many and loved by her students, family, friends, and coworkers. The world is a little less bright now that her light has dimmed.
A funeral mass will be held Monday, May 5, 2014 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Mary on the Hill Catholic Church. Honorary pallbearers will be her former co-workers from the Richmond County Board of Education.
The family would like to thank her special friends, Janice Elkins and Sherrian Jimenez, for their love and care.
