Carroll Leron "Ron" Harding, age 70, died Wednesday, April 30, 2014 at the Armed Forces Retirement Home in Gulfport, MS. He was born September 25, 1943 in Water Valley, MS to the late David Alonzo, Sr. and Marjorie Hallmark Harding. Ron, a Master Sargent, retired from the United States Air Force after twenty years of service, serving two terms in Vietnam. After a career in the military he also retired from Wright Technologies (formerly Dow Corning) in Collierville, TN after twenty years of service. Ron loved people and was passionate about his volunteer work. While in AFRH he was an active volunteer in the admissions office where he helped new recruits. He served as President and was an active church leader in the AFRH Non-denominational Church.
Visitation will be held Sunday, May 4, 2014 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Seven Oaks Funeral Home in Water Valley, MS. A graveside service will be held at 10:00 am on Monday, May 5, 2014 at Jumper’s Chapel Methodist Church Cemetery in Yalobusha County, MS. with Rev. Don Harding officiating.
Ron is survived by his wife, Marsha Catchings Harding of Oklahoma City, OK; one son, John Cadena of Dripping Springs, TX; one daughter, Shannon Cadena of San Antonio, TX; his sister, Phyllis Norwood (Bob) of Water Valley, MS; his special niece, Natalie Norwood Bauer (Jason) of Spanish Ft., AL; and four grandsons.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Mary Jane Harding McFerron and his brother, David A. Harding, Jr.
