Robert Luther DeWitt

Evans, GA – After a long illness, Robert Luther DeWitt, 75, husband of Alma Gardner DeWitt, passed away on Wednesday, April 30, 2014. He was the son of the late Martin Luther “Slick” DeWitt and Elizabeth Speering DeWitt.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM on Sunday, May 4, 2014 at Warren Baptist Church Chapel with Rev. Dave Dillard officiating. Burial will follow at Bellevue Memorial Gardens.

After graduating from Southern Tech, Robert went to work for AT&T in Atlanta. He also worked in Alkhobar, Saudi Arabia as a Distribution Engineer for Dhahran Electric Supply Co. Robert was a veteran of 26 years of the United States Naval Reserves. He also retired from Augusta Technical College after 28 years, where he taught electronics. Robert was a member of Warren Baptist Church, the Augusta Lions Club, and the Augusta Toastmasters Club.

In addition to his wife, survivors include his son; Robert Andrew DeWitt of Blackville, SC, daughter; Laura DeWitt Parker (Mark) of Carlisle, PA, grandsons; Ben DeWitt of Evans, GA, Matthew Parker of Carlisle, PA, granddaughter; Alaina Parker of Carlisle, PA, sister; Betty Ridlehoover (Grady) of Lincolnton, GA, brother; Terry DeWitt (Harriett) of Evans, GA.

The family would like to express appreciation to all the staff at Lewis Personal Care Home for their love and care over the past year.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time at the church.

If so desired, memorials may be made to Warren Baptist Church.
