Alfred S. Johnson, III, 55

Alfred S. “Stan” Johnson, III, age 55, of Smithfield, RI formerly of Chepachet, RI passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, April 29, 2014. He was the beloved husband of Cheryl A. (Thomas) Johnson to whom he was wed on July 27, 1991.
Born in Pawtucket, RI on August 4, 1958, he was a loving son of Rita M. (Desmarais) Johnson of Norton and the late Alfred S. Johnson, Jr.
Stan grew up in Rumford, RI and had attended East Providence, RI schools. For the past 25 years he had been employed as an Iron Worker with Local Union 7 in Boston.
He had made his home in Smithfield for the past 4 years and had formerly resided in Chepachet, where he raised his family.
Stan enjoyed golf and fishing, but most of all he loved spending time with family; especially his grandchildren.
In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by his devoted daughters; Brooke S. Van Fossan of Boston, Stacy L. Johnson of Woonsocket, RI and Shandra L. Paquette and Randi M. Taylor both of Smithfield, RI. He was the dear brother of Charlene C. Fletcher and her husband Jeffrey of Portsmouth, RI and Judy A. Burgess and her husband William of Norton. He is also survived by his cherished grandchildren; Jordyn, Brayden, Natalia, Kaiden and Trenton, as well as several nieces and nephews.
His Funeral Mass, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be celebrated on Monday, May 5th at 11:00 A.M. in St. Mary’s Church, 1 Power St., Norton. Burial will be held privately in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Providence.
Visitation will be held prior to the services on Monday morning from 9:00-10:30 A.M. at the Norton Memorial Funeral Home, 19 Clapp St. (Off Route 140, Taunton Ave.) Norton.
