David F. Thomas., 86, of Worcester and formerly of Medway died Tuesday, April 29, 2014 at his home. He was the beloved husband of Catherine (DeLorenzo) Thomas since 1950.
Born in Mendon on September 24, 1927, he was the son of the late Raymond and Bertha (Fernald) Thomas.
He graduated from Mendon High School in 1945 and the New England Aircraft School earning an Associate’s Degree in Aircraft Engineering.
Mr. Thomas proudly served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and the Korea Conflict.
Before his retirement, he worked as a salesman in the antiques business and had previously worked as an aircraft machinist.
Mr. Thomas was a life member of the VFW Post 1526 in Medway and volunteered with the St. Joseph CYO Band for many years. He enjoyed collecting and selling antiques as well as camping with his wife, children and grandchildren.
He is survived by his beloved wife Catherine, four children, David E. Thomas and his wife Linda Gail of Richmond, Virginia, Linda J. Arnold of Shrewsbury, Susan M. Bouchard and her husband Robert of Medway and James M. Thomas and his wife Lynn of Bethel, Vermont.
He is also survived by eight grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, his niece Catherine Marenghi and his nephews, Jerry Marenghi and Mark DeLorenzo.
He was predeceased by nine brothers and sisters.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral service in the Ginley Crowley Funeral Home, 3 Barber St. in Medway (www.ginleyfuneralhomes.com) on Saturday, May 3 at 11 a.m. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in Medway.
Calling hours will be held on Friday from 6-8 p.m.
