Obituary

7/31/33 ~ 4/23/14
After a day with his family and time in the yard in which he took great pride, he went to bed and never awoke—a peaceful, gentle end for a peaceful, gentle man. Orv was a man of integrity, a caretaker, and a giver. If he saw someone in need he lent a hand without fanfare. He took care of his family first, and although he was not wealthy, he always seemed to have enough to share with the less fortunate. He took in 21 cats, 3 dogs, and even a troubled nephew. He had a heart for Jesus and is now enjoying being in His presence.

Orv served in the Army during the Korean conflict. Following his service, he worked at McGill-Jensen Printing Company for 37 years. He loved all sports and had season tickets for many Minnesota teams at one time or another. He and his wife Sharon never missed a NorthStars game the last seventeen years they played at the Met.

He met Sharon on a blind date 62 years ago, and it was love at first sight. They remained devoted to each other—never apart for a day during their nearly 60 years of marriage. He adored his girls, daughters Laurie (Tom) Solle and Lynn (Curt) Walstrom. He is also survived by his two grandsons, Ryan (Leah) and Kyle Walstrom; great-grandson Graham; sister Jan Wegwerth; brother Duane (Joanne); brother-in-law Ted (Carmen) Trampe; and many nieces and nephews. Many thanks to special friends and relatives Renee, Craig, and Derek Johnson; Karen and Charlie Walton; Gerry Neumann; Bev and Rick Carpenter; Ali Adsit; and the Mark Moffat family.

He is predeceased by his parents Walter and Mabel, sisters Jerry and Marcia, and nephew Terry.

A celebration of his life will be held poolside at his home from 2-6 on the 4th of July, his favorite holiday of the year. Bring a dish to share along with a treasured memory of Orv.

His family is so grateful to the Lord for giving them this good, dear man. They will miss him so.
