Obituary

David A. Hodges, age 84, passed away on Monday, April 28, 2014. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Beverly (Carter) Hodges and his children, Cheryl Horeanopoulos and husband Kyle of Bradford; Cynthia Carr and husband Joseph of Blandford and Douglas Hodges and wife Laura Maguire of Pembroke. Dave also leaves his grandchildren, Joe Carr Jr. of Morehead City, NC, Michael and Kevin Carr of Blandford, Hunter and Paige Horeanopoulos of Bradford and his brother. Kenneth E. Hodges and wife Sandra of Plymouth and Naples, FL and 4 nieces and nephews..
Dave grew up in Wollaston, graduated from Norfolk Agricultural School and Wentworth Institute. He was an airplane spotter atop of Quincy Hospital during WWII. He served 4 years in the navy, achieving the rank of Quarter Master 3rd Class as a Signalman aboard the USS Rochester receiving the Korean War Medal from South Korea.
David was a Forman for Arch Gear works before working for Johnson and Johnson Orthopedics Division as a Precision Machinist of Prototypes.
Dave and Bev loved to travel, visiting Europe, Greece, Alaska, Hawaii and National Parks.
Many years Dave was active in Fine Arts Chorale, Old South Union Church Choir and South Weymouth men’s Bowling League. Along with music he loved fishing, sailing, working with wood and finding Indian artifacts.
Visiting hours will be at the C. C. Shepherd Funeral Home, 134 Pleasant St. (Columbian Sq.) S. Weymouth on Saturday May 3 from 1 to 3 PM immediately followed by a Funeral Service at the Old South Union Church at 3 PM.
