Obituary

CHICOPEE – Doris M. (Porlier) Wheeler, 90, a longtime resident of Doverbrook Estates in Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Saturday, April 26, 2014. She passed into Eternal Life at Wingate at South Hadley surrounded by the care and comfort of her loving family and her wonderful caregivers. She was born in Montague, Massachusetts on June 15, 1923, a beloved daughter of the late Emile and Rosanna (Mayrand) Porlier. She was raised in Montague and, in 1985, moved to Doverbrook Estates in Chicopee. She was employed for many years at the former Esleec Manufacturing Company in the Turners Falls section of Montague and retired in 1985. Doris was a wonderful homemaker to her family. She showered them with her love and affection which was returned to her a thousand fold. She was predeceased by her beloved husband and best friend, Robert E. Wheeler who was Called Home on May 5, 2005. They were married in Montague on February 15, 1946 and were blessed with over 59 years of happiness together. She leaves her loving children, Ward A. Wheeler and his wife, Elizabeth, with whom she lived in Chicopee, and Virginia M. Rose and her husband, Jerome, of Bellevue, NE; her ten cherished grandchildren, Aaron Wheeler and his wife, Sharon, of Agawam, Rose Kennedy and her husband, Jason, of Chicopee, Adam Wheeler and his partner, Claryn Heath, of Southbridge, Kristell Mettlin and her husband, Robert, of Bellevue, NE, Kelly Hanover and her husband, Robert, of Monroe, UT, Koreen Stefanidis and her husband, Dana, of Lincoln, NE, Kaci Holgren and her husband, Matthew, of Bellevue, NE, Kara Cluff and her husband, Kim, of Andover, KS, Katie Matchett and her husband, David, of North Platte, NE, and Kevin Rose and his wife, Tiffany, of Bellevue, NE; her 28 cherished great-grandchildren whom she adored; her dear sisters-in-law, Pauline Porlier of Montague and Anita Wheeler of Florida; and her many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, and extended members of the Wheeler and Porlier families. Besides her parents and husband, she was also predeceased by her dear brothers, Felix, Raymond and Marcel Porlier; and her dear sisters, Loretta Porlier and Gertrude Michaud. Her funeral will be held on Monday morning, May 5, 2014 beginning at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Fairview Chapels, (413-533-3307), 506 Britton Street, Chicopee, MA 01020, (funeral home will open at 10 a.m.) followed by a Funeral Service at 11 a.m. in the Funeral Home Chapel. Her burial will be private for her family at Greenlawn Cemetery, 39 Bridge Street, (Baldwinville) Templeton, MA 01436. Her family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday, May 4, 2014 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. The parking lot is located in the rear of the funeral home.
