New Bedford – Normando L. Amaral, age 45 of East Freetown, passed away, unexpectedly, on Sunday, April 27, 2014 at St. Luke’s Hospital. He was the loving husband of Cristina I. Amaral and the son of Lina R. (Luis) and Jose R. Amaral. He was born in New Bedford, spent all of his life here and was employed as the Warehouse Manager at Sid Wainer & Son. He enjoyed fishing and working on boats as well as being down at the squadron for the Civil Air Patrol in Plymouth advocating for the color guard where he was a safety officer as well. He was a very enthusiastic worker who was able to do almost anything with his hands.
Survivors include his wife, Cristina, of East Freetown, his parents, Lina and Jose of Dartmouth formerly of Horta, Faial, Azores; son Nathan R. Amaral of Freetown, brother, Walter L. Amaral and his wife, Jennifer, of Debury, Fla; in-laws, Maria Adelaide and Manuel G. Rodrigues of New Bedford formerly of Coimbra, Portugal; 1 niece, Sydney Amaral, 1 nephew, Austin Amaral; several aunts, uncles and cousins.
His funeral will be Friday May 2 at Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth St. in New Bedford, beginning at 8:45 A.M. with a Mass Christian of Burial at St. John Neumann Church at 10:00 A.M. Burial will follow at Rural Cemetery. Visiting hours will take place in the funeral home on Thursday evening from 5 – 8 P.M. Relatives and friends are invited to attend
