Michael D. Whitley, 62, of Ocilla, Georgia, died Sunday, April 27, 2014 at his residence.
Funeral services will be held 11 AM, Wednesday, April 30, 2014 at the Ocilla Church of God with the Rev. Clayton Dowd officiating. Interment will follow in the Brushy Creek Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6 to 8 at the funeral home in Ocilla.
Mr. Whitley was born June 19, 1951 in Ocilla to the late Elie and Lavada Ring Whitley. He graduated from Irwin County High School. He received an Associates degree in nursing from ABAC, an Associates degree in psychology, Bachelors of Science degree in Business management from Georgia Southern and a Masters degree from Keller graduate school. He served his country honorably in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. Mr. Whitley was a flight attendant with Delta Airlines and was a member of the Ocilla Church of God.
He is survived by his brothers: Elie C. & Nina Whitley of Fitzgerald, Isaac & Fay Whitley of Ocilla and Kaylon & Blondean Whitley of Ocilla as well as many nieces and nephews. He will be especially missed by his faithful Labrador, J.R.
