Henry J. Lambert, age 94, passed away on Tues., Apr. 22, 2014 at home surrounded by his loving family. He was born on Jan. 24, 1920 in New Bedford, MA. His parents were the late Telesphore and Parmelia (Laferriere) Lambert. Henry worked as a plumber for Savage Arms for 42 years before he retired in 1982. He was a communicant of the former St George Church and also a communicant of Holy Name Parish. He was a volunteer at St George church from 1963 until its closing in 2009. He loved woodworking, making birdhouses and working with his hands. He also enjoyed gardening and spending time with his family, especially his great grandchildren, but there was no greater joy for him than swinging in his gazebo with the love of his life. He leaves his loving wife of 72 years, Yvonne D. (Dube) Lambert of Chicopee; 2 sons, David Lambert of Chicopee and Garry Lambert and his wife Michelle of Chicopee; 1 daughter Glorianne Asselin and her husband John of Seminole, FL; his sister Eva Garrity of FL; 6 grandchildren, Pam and her husband Damion Nadeau, Doug and his wife Katie Lambert, Michael Lambert, John Asselin, Kristen Fitzgerald, Christopher Asselin and his wife Angela and 9 great grandchildren, Wyatt, Parker, Clara, Andrew, Miles, Margaret, Elise, Rachel and Aiden. He is predeceased by his brothers Alphonse, Paul, Armand and Ovila Lambert and also by his sisters Yvonne Lambert, Antoniette Lemay and Alice Zacharie. Calling hours will be held on Tues., Apr. 29th from 4- 7p.m. at the Grise Funeral Home, 280 Springfield St, Chicopee. A funeral service will be held on Wed., Apr. 30th at 9 a.m. at the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian burial in Holy Name of Jesus Parish in Assumption Church at 10 a.m. with burial to follow in St Rose de Lima Cemetery.
