Obituary

Tomas DeCastro, age 77 of Brockton, died unexpectedly at St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center on Wednesday April 23, 2014. He was the loving husband of Estela DeCastro for 51 years and the son of the late Crispulo and Consolacion (Velasquez) DeCastro .
Mr. DeCastro was born and raised in Bacoor, Cavite Philippines and followed in his father’s footsteps by serving in the US Navy as an Officer for 30 years. Upon his retirement from the service, Mr. DeCastro worked for the US Postal Service in Boston. As a career Navy veteran, Mr. DeCastro enjoyed sharing stories of his deployment at sea on the USS Independence, USS Kitty Hawk and lastly the USS Midway while stationed in Yokohama, Japan with his family. His last assignment brought him and his family to the Boston area where he has lived for the last 37 years.
Mr. DeCastro was an avid sports fan, an amazing cook and he enjoyed life to the fullest.

In addition to his wife he is survived by his children and their partners, Ron DeCastro and Tracy Rouleau of Gaithersburg, MD; Cheryl DeCastro and William Reilly of Park City, UT and Elaine DeCastro and David Dennison of Boston, MA. He also leaves his grandsons Thomas and Ethan DeCastro and his sister Leticia Nario of San Diego, CA.

Visiting hours will be held in the Conley Funeral Home 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton on Sunday from 2-5pm. A funeral service with military honors will be held at 4:00pm.
