Earle L. Nash, Jr., age 83, of Plainville, formerly of Mansfield passed away peacefully on Friday, April 25, 2014 at the Madonna Manor Nursing Home in North Attleboro. He was the beloved husband of Margaret A. (Costello) Nash to whom he was wed for over 60 years.
Born in Norwell, MA on January 5, 1931, he was a son of the late Earle L., Sr. and Lelia V. (Torrey) Nash.
Earle grew up in Norwell. He was a graduate of the Bristol County Agricultural School in Dighton where he excelled in basketball and was selected as a team captain.
Prior to retiring, Mr. Nash worked for over 40 years as an Automotive Service Technician at local Ford dealerships. Following retirement he had worked part time at Brigg’s Nursery in North Attleboro, and most recently as a manager for the Town of Plainville’s recycling center.
Earle had made his home in Plainville for almost 20 years and had previously resided for many years in Mansfield.
He was an avid sports fan throughout his life and for many years participated in the semi-pro levels at Massachusetts Horseshoe tournaments. His other sporting events included bowling, golfing, fishing and playing in softball tournaments.
Mr. Nash loved spending time with his family and will always be remembered for his strong work ethics and his talented hand crafted woodworking skills.
In addition to his beloved wife, he is survived by his devoted children; Janet L. Fesik and her husband Richard of North Attleboro, Earle L. Nash, III and his wife Kathleen of Norton, Mary V. Stowe and her husband Walter of Bellingham, Dennis M. Nash and his wife Kim of Indiana, and Kathleen T. Zarrella and her husband William of Florida. He was the dear brother of Herbert Nash of CT and is also survived by his cherished 13 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be held on Tuesday, April 29th from 4:00-7:00 P.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home, 55 North Main St., Mansfield.
A funeral service will be held at the conclusion of visitation on Tuesday evening at 7:00 P.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home. Burial will be held privately at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, Earle’s family has requested that donations in his memory be made to the Mansfield Animal Shelter, P.O. Box 25, Mansfield, MA 02048.
