Dolores M. (Moynihan) Murphy, 85, of Manchester died November 5, 2004 at the Catholic Medical Center after a short illness.
She was born in Newport, RI on March 27, 1919, the daughter of Andrew and Madeline (Grauer) Moynihan. She spent her life in Manchester.
She was a graduate of West High School and the Sacred Heart School of Nursing. After practicing as a registered nurse both in private duty and in hospitals, she worked for many years in the Central High School administration office.
Mrs. Murphy is remembered as a devoted wife, loving mother, and cherished grandmother. She was a member of the Catholic Nurses Association and was also a member of the Retired Teachers Association.
She was a communicant of St. Catherine of Sienna Church.
Her husband of 34 years, Bernard J. “Spud” Murphy died in 1986. She was also pre-deceased by a son William Murphy in 1982.
Family members include a daughter, Mrs. Patrick (Tara) McGee of Manchester; 2 sons, John D. “Jack” Murphy of Manchester, and Thomas B. Murphy of Massachusetts; nine grandchildren; one great-grandchild; a brother, Andrew Moynihan of Laconia; two sisters, Sally Mirabelli of Monroe, CT, and Althea Moynihan of Manchester; many nephews and nieces.
A mass of Christian burial was celebrated in St. Catherine Church on Monday November 8, 2004. Burial followed in St. Joseph Cemetery, Bedford.
