DUDLEY – Phyllis M. (Hobson) Lorkiewicz, 79, died Monday, April 21, 2014 in Harrington Memorial Hospital, Southbridge after a period of declining health.
She leaves her husband of almost 57 years, George S. Lorkiewicz; 3 sons, Kennth J. Lorkiewicz and his wife Pat of North Carolina, Mark S. Lorkiewicz of Leominster, and Brian G. Lorkiewicz of Myrtle Beach, SC; a daughter, Melinda J. Pyle of Dania, FL; and 5 grandchildren, Timothy, Matthew, Zachary, Brandon and Kara. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Lisa M. Lorkiewicz in 2001 and by a brother, Frank Hobson in 1999.
She was born in Providence and raised in Burrillville, RI, the daughter of Lynwood and Gertrude (Edwards) Hobson. She lived in Dudley since 1957. She graduated from Burrillville High School in Harrisville, RI in 1952.
Mrs. Lorkiewicz was a homemaker. She also worked as a cashier part-time at Shaw’s Market in Webster.
She was a member of St. Andrew Bobola Church and was once the president of the Webster Dudley Girls Club. She enjoyed crocheting and reading.
The funeral will be held Friday, April 25, from the Sitkowski & Malboeuf Funeral Home, 340 School Street, Webster, with a Mass at 10:00 AM in St. Andrew Bobola Church, 54 West Main Street. Burial will be in St. Joseph Garden of Peace, Webster. The family will receive relatives and friends from 6:00 to 9:00 PM Thursday, April 24, in the funeral home. Donations in her name may be made to the Webster Dudley Boys & Girls Club, 55 Oxford Avenue, Dudley, MA 01571.
