Obituary

Lucille N. Gendreau, 74, formerly of Mendon Rd. Woonsocket died Sunday evening at Landmark Medical Center. She was the wife of the late Bertrand Tousignant and the late Normand A. Gendreau.
Born and raised in Woonsocket she was a daughter of the late Gabriel and Bertha (Roberge) Bernier. She attended St. Louis School, graduated from St. Clare Girls High School and went on to earn her degree from Georgetown University.
Lucille entered the Religious of Jesus and Mary, was known in religious life as Sr. Raymond, and served the order for eight years.
Lucille was a teacher in Woonsocket for many years working at a number of schools including the Leo Savoie Elementary School.
During her married life Lucille was a member of the Third Order of St. Francis and opened her home as a foster mother for many children. She was also a longtime caregiver for the late Mrs. Florence Briere.
Lucille was a communicant of Precious Blood Parish and a member of Les Dames de St. Anne and attended the Cenecale with her husband and friends. She was musically inclined and gave music lessons. She enjoyed traveling especially to a number of Marian shrines and other destinations of significance to her faith. It is of special comfort to her family that Lucille was called home to the Lord on Easter Sunday.
Lucille was the sister of the late Raymond G. Bernier and is survived by several nieces and nephews and many cousins.
Her Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday at 10:00 am in Precious Blood Church, Carrington Ave. Woonsocket. Burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery, Cumberland. Visiting hours are Thursday morning from 8:30-9:30 am, prior to Mass, in the Menard-Lacouture Funeral Home, 127 Carrington Ave. Woonsocket. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Precious Blood Parish, 94 Carrington Ave. Woonsocket, RI. 02895.
