Belmira (Medeiros) Pontes, age 75 of Somerset passed away April 19, 2014. She was the wife of Antero R. Pontes. Born in São Vicente Ferreira, São Miguel, Açores, she was the daughter of the late Manuel Rodrigues Medeiros and Angelina (Clemente Farias) Medeiros. She was a retired machine operator having worked at A & A Mfg. and a parishioner of St. John of God Church and the Holy Rosary Sodality. Belmira loved gardening and tending to her flowers.
Mrs. Pontes was the mother of Maryann Couto (husband Manuel) of Dighton, Teresa Viveiros (husband Ronald) and Antero Pontes Jr. (wife Lisa) of Somerset and Thomas Pontes (wife Nair) of Swansea. She was the sister of Maria Cabral of Bristol, RI, Manuel Rodrigues of Fall River and the late Elvira Correia. She also leaves 11 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Her funeral will take place from the MANUEL ROGERS & SONS FUNERAL HOME, INC. 1521 N. Main St., Fall River SATURDAY at 8:00 A.M with a Mass of Christian Burial in St. John of God Church 996 Brayton Ave., Somerset at 9:00 A.M. Entombment in Notre Dame Cemetery Mausoleum.
