Fernanda "Fern" (Pacheco) Augusta, 92, of Dartmouth, formerly of New Bedford, passed away peacefully on Friday April 18, 2014 at St. Luke's Hospital. She was the wife of John Augusta, Jr.
Born in Terceira, Azores, the daughter of the late Lourdes (Reis) and Fernando Cunha Pacheco, she came to New Bedford at the age of 2 months and lived in New Bedford for most of her life, before moving to Dartmouth in 2005.
She was a communicant of Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish at St. James Church.
Mrs. Augusta was formerly employed as a shell worker at John I. Paulding Company and later worked at Cove Discount Center.
Binha was a former member of the Monsignor Noon Circle at St. James Church.
Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Patricia Whalley and her husband Wayne of Dartmouth; a granddaughter, Tricia Livesey and her husband Scott of Dartmouth; three great-grandsons, Nicholas, Jacob, and Brendan Livesey; her sisters-in-law, Silvana Pacheco of New Bedford and Silvina Thatcher of San Diego, CA; her special friends from Scotland, Margaret Cruickshanks and family; and several nieces and nephews.
She was the sister of the late Joaquim C. "Jack" Pacheco.
Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday at 11 AM at Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish at St. James Church.. Burial will follow in Acushnet Cemetery.
