O'BRIEN, Robert E. "Obie" of Plymouth formerly of Dedham and East Boston, passed away peacefully at home with his family at his side on April 18, 2014 at age 74. Beloved husband of Barbara V. (Wilson) O'Brien. Devoted father of Robert O'Brien Jr. of Beverly, Edward O'Brien of Dedham, James O'Brien and his wife Tammy of Stoughton, and Sean O'Brien and his wife Kelly of Norfolk. Loving grandfather of Robert III and his wife Lacey, Shane, Jake, and Maci. Son of the late Thomas and Elizabeth O'Brien. Brother of Paul O'Brien and the late Francis and Joseph O'Brien. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.
He worked at The Boston Globe, Sealy Mattress, and retired from Children's Hospital. He was also part of the upholstery union for many years. Obie loved spending time with his family, fishing, motorcycles and had a lifelong love of upholstering furniture. His family would like to express their sincere gratitude to all the caregivers at Cranberry Hospice.
Relatives and friends kindly invited to attend visiting hours at the George F. Doherty & Sons Wilson-Cannon Funeral Home, 456 High St., DEDHAM on Thursday, April 24 from 4-7 pm with a Memorial Service beginning at 7 pm. Interment private. In lieu of flowers expressions of sympathy may be made in Robert's memory to the Alzheimer’s Association, 480 Pleasant St., Watertown, MA 02472.
