Obituary

Nicholas J. "Uncle Nick" DiLeo, a one year resident of Stoneham and former 49 year resident of Melrose, entered into eternal life on Wednesday April 16, 2014 at Melrose-Wakefield Hospital. He was 82 years old.

Nicholas was born in Cambridge on March 27, 1932, a son of the late Sergio DiLeo and Angelina (Corso) DiLeo. He grew up in Somerville where he was educated in the Somerville Public School system and attended Somerville Trade High School. Nicholas enlisted into the United States Army on October 20, 1949 and served his country with pride and courage during the Korean Conflict. He was discharged on October 19, 1952 with the rank of Corporal. He worked for the Sears and Roebuck Company for over 35 years as a Warehouseman. Following his retirement, Nicholas volunteered at Melrose-Wakefield Hospital for three years.

Nicholas is the beloved husband of 56 years to Margaret (Dowd) DiLeo. He is the devoted father of Nicholas S. DiLeo and his wife Emily, and Kathleen M. DiLeo. He is the loving grandfather to Jared, Lauren, Catherine, and Isabella. He is the beloved brother of Antonetta DeBenedetto, Serafina Hodin, Marie Creedon, and the late Frank DiLeo and Lucy DiLeo. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend Nicholas' Funeral on Wednesday April 23, 2014 at 9 A.M. from The Carr Funeral Home 1159 Main St. Melrose followed by his Funeral Mass in the Most Blessed Sacrament Church 1155 Main St. Wakefield at 10 A.M. Interment will be at Woodlawn Cemetery in Everett. Visiting hours will be on Tuesday, April 22, 2014 from 4 to 8 P.M. in the funeral home.
