Elce V. "Ye-Ye" (Lopes) Andrade, 88, of New Bedford, passed peacefully at home on Holy Thursday April 17, 2014, surrounded by her loving family and friends. She was the wife of the late Joao D. Andrade.
Born in Brava, Cape Verde, the daughter of the late Jose and Paulina O. (Vasconcelos) Lopes, she lived in New Bedford since 1963.
Mrs. Andrade was formerly employed by the Coastline Elderly Foster Grandparent Program.
Survivors include seven sons, Antonio Andrade, John Andrade, Joseph Andrade, Nildõ-Elesiõ Andrade, Augusto Andrade, Paulo Andrade, and Robert Andrade; three daughters, Arminda Kantor, Teresa Andrade, and Fatima Andrade; two brothers, Carlos V. Lopes and Augusto V. Lopes; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was the sister of the late Maria J. Facadas, Margarida V. Lopes, Hermes V. Lopes, Jose V. Lopes and Joao V. Lopes.
Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday at 9 AM in St. Lawrence Church. Burial will follow in St. John's Cemetery. Visiting hours will be on Sunday from 4-8 PM in the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford.
