Obituary

DeMINICO, Mary E. (Estright), of Winthrop, passed away at the Atria Maplewood Place in Malden on April 14, 2014. She was 90. She was the beloved wife of the late Charles A. DeMinico, a former Winthrop Police Officer. Born in Altoona, PA, she was the daughter of the late William H. and Clara Belle (Jones) Estright. Mother of Janice M. Jones of Hudson, MA, Grandmother of Eva Perry of Atkinson, NH and Lara Militello of Stow, MA. and also survived by 6 great grandchildren. Sister of the late Olive & Anita and sister-in-law of the late Alma & Walter Murray. Mary was the beloved “Auntie” of Barbara A. Survilas and her husband Edward of Winthrop and their children and grandchildren as well as many grandnieces, grandnephews, great-grandnieces and great-grandnephews. Funeral from the Maurice W. Kirby Funeral Home Winthrop, MA on Tues, April 22, at 10:30am. A Funeral Mass will be held in St. John the Evangelist Church, 320 Winthrop St., Winthrop, MA at 11:30am. Relatives and friends are invited. Interment will be in Winthrop Cemetery. Visiting hours will be held at the funeral home on Mon, April 21 only from 4-8pm. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Holy Rosary Church Street Ministry, 993 Shirley St. Winthrop, MA 02152. Mary was a member of Winthrop Catholic Woman’s Club, the Winthrop Improvement and Historical Assn; a Former Member of the MA State Silver Haired Legislature; a volunteer for Winthrop Red Cross, and a member of Altoona, PA, ’42 HS Alumni Assn. as well as a former Board Director of the Winthrop Council on Aging. For over a decade, before retirement, Mary worked for the Gillette Safety Razor Co. as an Industrial Nurse.
