Obituary

CHICOPEE _ Jeannette I. (Larocque) Wells, 89, of the Fairview section of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Sunday, April 13, 2014. She passed into Eternal Life at Heritage Hall South in Agawam surrounded by the care and comfort of her loving family and her wonderful caregivers. She was born in Holyoke on March 25, 1925, a beloved daughter of the late William and Lena (Brunet) Larocque. She was raised in the Chicopee Falls section of Chicopee, graduated from Chicopee High School and later moved to the Fairview section of Chicopee in 1955. She worked as the bookkeeper from 1971 until she retired in 1990 for her family business, the Jewell Enterprises in Chicopee. She was previously the head waitress at the former Ron-Roc Restaurant in Chicopee. During her younger years, Jeannette enjoyed knitting, crocheting, reading novels, ceramics and exercising with her friends. Most of all, she was a wonderful wife mother and homemaker to her family. She was a communicant of Saint Anne Church in Chicopee. She was predeceased by her beloved husband and best friend, John E. Wells who was Called Home on June 28, 1984. She leaves her devoted children, John E. Wells and his wife, Susan, of Chicopee, and Deborah L. Haznar and her husband, Joel, of Shrewsbury, MA; her loving sister, Lorraine A. Allen of Sun City, AZ; and many nephews, nieces, cousins and extended members of the Wells and Larocque families. Her funeral will be held on Wednesday morning, April 16, 2014 beginning at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Fairview Chapels, (413-533-3307), 506 Britton Street, Chicopee, MA 01020, (funeral home will open at 8:30 a.m.), followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Saint Anne Church, 30 College Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. Her burial will follow the Mass at Notre Dame Cemetery, 63 Lyman Street, South Hadley, MA 01075. Her family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, April 15, 2014 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. The parking lot is located in the rear of the funeral home.
