Born June 4, 1927, in Yonkers, New York.
"Winnie" lived a long and full life, yet her eternally young spirit never seemed to get old.
Winifred was married to her one and only true love, August Henry Held on May 1, 1948. She dedicated her life to her family. Her years were filled with many adventures. Her stories were the ones that were so amazing you would wonder if they were tall tales, but they were true and she loved to tell them to everyone over a cup of coffee. She just seemed to collect friends everywhere she went. Winnie was loved by all who were lucky enough to call her friend. She was nurturing and protective. Some of her loved ones describe her as witty, funny, sassy or patient, but above all, Winnie was a special lady who loved to laugh. Her bravery, loving heart and kind spirit will live on forever in the hearts of those who knew her. Rest peacefully.
She was one of seven children. Survived by her three children and their families; Billy and his wife Paula, Claire and her husband Richard and Kathy and her husband Charles, grandchildren Christopher, Christine, Katherine and Kimberly, five great-grandchildren Kaitlyn, Alison, Sawyer, Josie and Madilyn, and Carol, her niece, who she thought of as a daughter.
A graveside service will be held at the Fairmount Cemetery, Cedar St. Weymouth on Sarturday April 12 at 1 PM.
