Obituary

GLOUCESTER – Harriet P. (Morse) Witham, 88, of Lincoln Park, died Thursday, April 10, 2014. She was the wife of the late Henry L. Witham, who died in June of 2007. They had shared sixty years of marriage.
Born in Rockport on September 10, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Charles B. and Helen May (Woodbury) Morse. She grew up in Pigeon Cove and moved to Gloucester once she married.
Harriet was employed at the Curtain Shop for over thirty years. She was known to be a voracious reader. A loving and devoted, wife, mother, grandmother and sister, her family was her life. She will be greatly missed.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Henry L., Jr. and Nancy (Henderson) Witham; two daughters and sons-in-law, Patricia and Dana Rankin and Shirley and Paul Hendrickson; eight grandchildren, Henry L., III, husband of Renee Witham, Lisa Witham, companion of Lou Koulouris, Stephanie, wife of Ryan Gendron, Jeffrey, husband of Leeanne Witham, Melissa, wife of Bradford Poole, Keith, husband of Lauri-Beth Rankin, Erik Hendrickson, companion of Carla Shields, and Freya, wife of Robert Gillis; nine great-grandchildren, Samantha Poole, Andrew Bertwell, Julie Bertwell, Catherine Witham, Bailey Witham, Arianna Gendron, Jessica Bertwell, Eva Gendron and Erin Witham; a sister, Mary, wife of George Witham; three sisters-in-law, Marion, wife of Raymond Brown, Clotilde Witham and Marjorie Morse; as well as many nieces and nephews. She was also predeceased by seven siblings, Helen “Lib” Gleason, Herbert Morse, John “Cackle” Morse, Ruth Barkhouse, Richard Morse, Nancy Budrow and Stephen Morse.
Her memorial service will be held on Tuesday morning in the Gloucester Assembly of God Church, 211 Washington Street, Gloucester at 11 a.m. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend.
