BEVERLY: Marion A. “Sis” (Durrell) Trowt, 92, died Wednesday, April 9, 2014 in the Holy Family Hospital, Methuen following a brief illness. She was the wife of the late John “Jack Trowt who died in August 1994.
Born in Peterboro, New Hampshire on January 28, 1922, she was the daughter of the late Frederick and Marion (Louraine) Durrell. She had resided in Beverly most of her life and was a graduate of St. Mary’s High School class of 1940.
Marion was employed as a clerk in the Assessors Office for the City of Beverly for eighteen years before her retirement. She enjoyed traveling, the beach, bowling and especially time spent with her great-grandchildren, Jacob and Jordyn.
She was a communicant of St. John the Evangelist Church, Beverly for the past several years and St. Mary Star of the Sea Church, Beverly for over 60 years.
She is survived by her son, Jim Trowt and his wife, Rosalynd of Salem, NH; grandson, Jeffrey Trowt and his wife, Lesa; granddaughter, Jill Trowt; two great grandchildren, Jacob and Jordyn Trowt; a sister, Jean Davis and her husband, Guerdon of Beverly; two sisters-in-law Dorothy Durrell of Wenham and Ann Durrell of Washington State and many nieces and nephews. She was also predeceased by three brothers, Joseph “Dood” Durrell, John Durrell and Stephen F. Durrell and a sister, Phyllis Beaulieu and her husband, George.
Her funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday in St. John the Evangelist Church, 111 New Balch St., Beverly at 11 a.m. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend. At her request, there are no visiting hours. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to the Shriner’s Hospital for Children, 51 Blosson St., Boston, MA 02114. Interment will be held in North Beverly Cemetery.
