Obituary

Tere Brooks Gould, age 65, entered into rest on April 3, 2014 at his home in Prosser. He was born on March 20, 1949 in Sunnyside, Washington to Jere Brooks Gould and Eunice Mae Remele. He was raised and educated in Prosser, was on the Prosser High School wrestling team and graduated with the Class of 1967. After graduation he attended Big Bend Community College, majoring in aviation until the draft, when he enlisted in the US Coast Guard and served from February of 1969 until September of 1973 receiving an honorable discharge. Two years of that service was on the buoy tender Bittersweet in Alaska. While serving in the Coast Guard, Tere met Betty Hutchison in Vancouver and the couple married in 1972. They moved to Prosser in 1975 and made their home on the Horse Heaven Hills. Tere worked with his grandfather and father on Ray Gould Farms, Inc. as a dry land wheat farmer until 1992. He then went to work for Agri Spray Inc., where he was still employed.

Tere’s grandpa Ray instilled a love of aviation in him as a young boy, which made him want to take pilot lessons and he earned his pilot’s license at the age of 17. Tere loved taking his family camping in the mountains and on yearly excursions to the Oregon Coast. He was an avid cribbage and pool player. Tere loved his boys visiting him at his house, target practicing, and have a few cold ones. He was a proud member of the National Rifle Association. One of his proudest moments was being able to walk his daughter Karie down the aisle.

Tere is survived by his sons, Denny Gould (Lori Miller), Shad Gould, Elton Gould (Cynthia Cruz); his daughter, Kari Cervantes (Mario); his former wife, Betty Gould, all of Prosser; his granddaughter, MacKenzie Gould; three step-grandchildren; and three step-great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sisters, Jacque Crone and Tracie Burgess (Michael), all of Prosser; and his aunt, Clarine Lysiak of Kennewick; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
