CHICOPEE – Bridget Theresa “Trese” (Healy) Joe, 76, of the Chicopee Falls section of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Monday, April 7, 2014. She passed into Eternal Life at her home surrounded by the care and comfort of her loving family and her wonderful caregivers. She was born in London, England on November 22, 1937, a beloved daughter of the late Michael and Bridget (Dowd) Healy. She was raised in Glen Lough Camp, Castle Gregory, County Kerry, Ireland and came to Holyoke in 1948, where she lived until moving to Chicopee Falls in 1962. She was the co-owner for over 40 years with her husband, James, of Terry’s One Hour Cleaners on East and Carew Streets in Chicopee and retired in 2001. Active in her faith, she was a longtime communicant of Saint Anthony Maronite Catholic Church in Springfield. Most of all, she was a wonderful homemaker to her family and showered them with her love and affection which was returned to her a thousand fold. She leaves her beloved husband and best friend, James J. Joe. They were married on September 1, 1962 at the former Holy Cross Church in Holyoke and were blessed with over 51 years of happiness together. She also leaves her loving daughter and son-in-law, Terian J. Chertok and her husband, Lawrence, of West Chester, PA; her two cherished grandchildren whom she adored, Marley Aviva Chertok and Cole Yisrael Chertok; her two dear brothers, John J. Healy of Holyoke, and Donald F. Healy and his wife, Sheila, of Chicopee; her dear sister-in-law of the Joe family, Lorraine Tratiak of Southwick; and her many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, and extended members of the Joe and Healy families. Besides her parents, she was also predeceased by her dear brother, Michael P. Healy. Her family would like to thank the staff at the Sister Caritas Cancer Center in Springfield, especially nurse Kathy Nichols in the Infusion Suite for their excellent care. They would also like to thank Dr. Philip Glynn and the staff of the Noble Visiting Nurse and Hospice, especially her nurse, Persephone, and her social worker, Lauren, for the care and comfort they provided Trese over the past several months of her illness. Her funeral will be held on Monday morning, April 14, 2014, beginning at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Springfield Chapels, (413-737-1177), 7 Chapin Terrace, Springfield, MA 01107, (funeral home will open at 8:30 a.m.), followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Saint Anthony Maronite Catholic Church, 375 Island Pond Road, Springfield, MA 01118. Her burial will follow the Mass at Saint Michael Cemetery, 1601 State Street, Springfield, MA 01109. Her family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday, April 13, 2014 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Her family has requested that memorial donations be made in her memory to Saint Anthony Maronite Catholic Church, 375 Island Pond Road, Springfield, MA 01118.
