Obituary

TIZZANO, Anthony Rudolph of Dover, 79 years old, died peacefully at home surrounded by his family after a long illness, April 6, 2014. Loving husband of 56 years to Anabis M. Tizzano. Devoted father to Anthony R. Tizzano Jr. and his partner Lisa Clouthier, BeBe Luczkow and her husband David, Albert M. Tizzano and his fiancée Beverly Minnucci, Douglas P. Tizzano and his partner Jonathan Davis, Julia J. Bastas and her husband Neal, the late Philip L. Tizzano and his wife Andrea and the late Tina M. Tizzano. Proud grandfather to 11 grandchildren and 3 great-grandsons. Brother of Albert H. Tizzano and the late Alberta Demarco, the late Beatrice DeMarco, and the late Evelyn Boxer. Loving uncle to many nephews and nieces. Mr. Tizzano was born June 13, 1934 in Brooklyn, New York. He began a long and successful career in the food industry as a butcher. For 33 years he excelled as a meat-processing and distribution plant manager for the Howard Johnson company. In 1979, he was honored as Howard Johnson’s National Manager of the Year. Following his years with Howard Johnson’s, he spent the next 20 years in research and development, pioneering a cooking method for the mass production of baby-back ribs that revolutionized the industry. He was a founding partner of Spartanburg Meat Processing, where he spent the final years of his career. He supported the Boy Scouts of America and Cub Scouts of Dover, as well as the Ellis Island Foundation, where he was recognized for his philanthropic endeavors. He loved to travel, play bocce, listen to Tony Bennett and Frank Sinatra, watch The Godfather trilogy, and entertain for family and friends. Most of all he was a dedicated husband and a proud, hard-working, generous father and grandfather who reveled in cooking amazing meals and enjoying them surrounded by his family.

Funeral from the George F. Doherty & Sons Funeral Home, 1305 Highland Ave., NEEDHAM, Thursday, April 10 at 9 am followed by a Funeral Mass in the Church of the Most Precious Blood, 30 Centre St., Dover at 10 am. Relatives and friends kindly invited. Visiting hours, Wednesday, April 9 from 4-8 pm. Interment Highland Cemetery, Dover.
