Edward Hurt

Augusta, GA – Entered into rest Sunday, April 06, 2014, Mr. Edward Hurt, 90, loving husband of the late Juanita Martin Hurt.

Mr. Hurt was born in Hazard, Kentucky but spent the last 70 years in Augusta. He was a veteran of WWII where he served in Aleutian Island until he was wounded and discharged. He was a lifelong bluegrass musician. He often stated that he “wanted blue grass out of the cow pasture and into the coliseum.” He retired from Boardman Oil Company in Augusta, after 37 years.

Family members include sons: Joe Martin Hurt and his wife Margaret, Mike Wheeler and Glen Hurt and his wife Sharon; and grandchildren: Sarah Cook and Brian Hurt.

A graveside service will be held Wednesday, April 9, 2014 11:00 A.M. in Hillcrest Memorial Park with Rev. Marion Jay officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the graveside.

The family would like to express their deepest appreciation for the tender loving care Mr. Hurt received for the last several years at the VA Hospice in Augusta.
