SPRINGFIELD – Irene (Santos) Leasher, 89, of the East Springfield section of Springfield, was Called Safely Home on Sunday, April 6, 2014. She passed into Eternal Life at Chapin Center in Springfield surrounded by all the memories she loved and cherished. She was born in Ludlow on March 25, 1925, a beloved daughter of the late Joseph and Maria (Christina) Santos. She was raised in Ludlow and later lived in the Brightwood section of Springfield before moving to East Springfield in the early 1960’s. She was employed for over 42 years at the former US Envelope Company in Springfield, which later became Westvaco, and retired in 1988. She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 51 years, James D. Leasher who was Called Home on May 6, 2007; and her loving son-in-law, Osman “Jimmy” Mislimoski who was Called Home on July 26, 2013. She leaves her loving daughter, Gladys M. Mislimoski of Ludlow; her loving son, Daniel F. Leasher of Ontario, CA; her four cherished grandchildren, Derrick, Shane, Gene and Farrell; her cherished great-grandson, Kane; her two dear brothers, Armand Santos of Holyoke and Donald Santos of Florida; her dear sister, Dorothy Teal and her husband, Edsel, of Chicopee; and her many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, and extended members of the Leasher and Santos families. Besides her parents, her husband and her son-in-law, she was also predeceased by her four dear brothers and her sister, Arnold, Mateus, George, Joseph, and Ilda. Her funeral will be private with a private burial at Hillcrest Park Cemetery, 895 Parker Street, Springfield.
