Maria José (Bastos) Dias, 95, of Fairhaven died April 6, 2014 at Alden Court Nursing Home.
She was the widow of the late Francisco M. Dias.
Born in Ilhavo, Portugal, the daughter of the late Jose and Rosa (Tourega) Bastos, she lived in Gloucester most of her life and moved to Portugal in 1966 visiting Fairhaven often.
Mrs. Dias was a communicant of St. Mary's Church, Fairhaven.
Her family would like to thank the staff at Alden Court for the many years of excellent care that Maria received.
Survivors include 3 sons, Joseph Dias & his wife Kathy, Anthony Dias & his wife Kathy, and Frank Dias & his wife Ilona, all of Gloucester; 2 daughters, Rosemary Carrico of Fairhaven, and Maria "Vicky" Cabral & her husband Peter of Dartmouth; a cousin, Maria José Firmeza of Portugal; 12 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
She was the mother-in-law of the late Manuel Carrico.
Funeral from the Saunders-Dwyer Mattapoisett Home For Funerals, 50 County Rd. (Rt. 6) Mattapoisett Wednesday, April 9th at 8 AM. Funeral Mass at St. Mary's Church in Fairhaven at 9 AM. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery. Visiting hours Tuesday, April 8th from 4-7.
