Middleboro – Karen Marie (Tucker) Yelapi, 62, of Middleboro passed away peacefully at home on Saturday April 5. She was the beloved wife of 27 years to Kevin Yelapi.
Born in Fort Benning, GA and raised in Whitman she was the daughter of the late Roy G. and Patricia A. (Twomey) Tucker and a graduate of Whitman-Hanson High, Class of 1969.
Karen had worked for many years as a home health aide and for over 20 years as school bus driver for Ryder Transportation.
Karen had a love for sewing, crafts and most especially music. For many years, Karen was the lead singer in a band along with her husband Kevin.
As the matriarch and oldest of six, Karen was the caretaker of both her mother and father until their passing.
Along with working, Karen had been a loving mother and homemaker for four children and was truly happiest in her role as “Nina” and had loved her grandchildren very much.
In addition to her loving husband Kevin she is survived by her four children, Patricia G. Parker of Fall River, Anita M. Uhlman of Sandwich, Anthony Martin, Jr. of Norfolk, VA and Jason M. Martin of Boston, her grandchildren, whom she adored, Jordan Olein, Jeffrey Parker, Emma Parker, Kiara Silva, Dylan Cronin, Alexandra Martin and James Martin, and her siblings Janet Gonsalves, Ellene Robishaw, John Tucker, Richard Tucker all of Whitman and Roy Tucker, Jr. of Boston. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
Her funeral service will be held Thursday April 10 at 10 AM in the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth Street (Rte. 58 @ the rotary) Whitman. Burial will be at a later date in the Northville Cemetery, East Bridgewater. Visiting hours will be held Wednesday April 9 from 4-8 PM.
