RAYNHAM/TAUNTON – Roland J. Ducharme, Sr., husband of the late Elsie S. (Craven) Ducharme, died at Golden Living Wedgemere in Taunton on April 3, 2014.
He was 89.
Born in West Warwick, RI, the son of the late Raoul and Antoinette (Hudon) Ducharme, he attended Pawtucket and Taunton schools.
Roland moved to Taunton in 1937 and most recently had resided in Raynham.
A Marine Corp veteran of WWII, he was later employed as a correction officer at MCI Norfolk where he worked for many years.
A communicant of Raynham’s St. Ann Church, Roland was a life member of the St. Vincent DePaul Society and Knights of Columbus.
Survivors include six sons, Thomas Ducharme of S. Dennis, Roger Ducharme of Plaistow, NH, Bruce Ducharme of Taunton, Randall Ducharme of Exeter, RI, Roland J. Ducharme, Jr. of Erie, PA, and Douglas Ducharme of Newport, RI; three daughters, Rosemary Botelho of Raynham, Rochelle Casey of Jamestown, RI and Rhonda Robinson of Sandown, NH; a brother, Paul Ducharme of Las Vegas, NV; two sisters, Yvette Conaty of Taunton and Theresa Gomes of E. Taunton; twelve grandchildren; ten great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
He was also the brother of the late Gerard, Norman, Richard, and Raymond Ducharme and the late Marian Davis.
His funeral will be held from the Silva Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Taunton on Wednesday, April 9th at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral mass at St. Ann Church, Raynham at 10 a.m.
Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery in Taunton.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
Calling Hours will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, April 8th from 4 to 8 p.m.
