Shirley Ruth Thomas of Taunton, formerly of Inverness, FL passed away on April 3rd at Morton Hospital. Mrs. Thomas was 85. Shirley was the wife of the late Francis Thomas. She was the loving mother of Joyce Correira and her husband Joseph, Donna Viveros and her husband Bradley, Cheryl Carlos and her husband Ed, Francis Thomas, Wayne Thomas, the late Frances LaSalva and the late Jeffrey Thomas. Shirley was a proud grandmother of 11 grandchildren and 10 Great Grandchildren including the late Nicholas Silva Thomas.
Shirley was born on August 3, 1928 in Taunton, the city that she was raised and educated in. Her parents were the late Alfred and Lucille White. She worked as a nurses’ aide at Morton Hospital and Taunton State Hospital. Upon retiring she went to work at H&L Bloom as a school bus driver for many years. Mrs. Thomas enjoyed reading, doing word search puzzles and crochet. She was known as a family oriented woman who loved spending time with her grandchildren. Shirley also tended to her garden and swan regularly. She will be loved and missed by all who knew her.
