Williams, Bernadine
86, died Tuesday, April 1, 2014 at University Hospital with her family at her bedside, following injuries from a car accident.
She had a strong faith, a generous spirit and was devoted to her family. She had been a member of the St. Edward Catholic faith community since 1964.
Bernadine and her husband, Edgar, celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary in 2008, a month before he died. They square danced for 25 years with Beulah Twirlers and KSDA and enjoyed league bowling. She continued to bowl from 1961 through 2012. Her volunteer activities included visiting nursing home residents and being active in her church. Over the years she served as her parish prayer line coordinator, eucharistic minister and usher, prepared meals with the bereavement committee and was a member of the resurrection choir, to name just a few.
Bernadine was preceded in death by her parents, Claud and Nora Harris; brother, Louis; sisters, Monica and Susie; and her loving husband, Edgar.
She is survived by her children, Jim Williams (Claire), Matilda “Milly” Morgan (Bill), Ray Williams (Ann), Claudette Helvey, Elissa Hill (Glenn), John Williams (Jeanne); grandchildren, Christy, Michael, Annie, Cara, Mary Beth, Jacob, Samantha, Mackenzie and Erin; great-grandsons, Brady, Elliott, Bennett and Cody.
Visitation will be at Owen Funeral Home – Jeffersontown, 9318 Taylorsville Road, Thursday, Noon – 8 p.m. A Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated 10 a.m. Friday, April 4th at St. Edward, 9608 Sue Helen Dr., with burial in Calvary Cemetery.
