Obituary

Ambrose B. Roche, Jr., 83, of Worcester, died peacefully on Sunday, March 30th in the Rose Monahan Hospice Home, surrounded by family. He leaves a son, Ambrose B. Roche, III, a daughter-in-law, Isabella Smejda, two grandchildren, Giselle P. Smejda and Ambrose B. Roche IV, all of Toronto, Canada; four brothers, Robert H. Roche of Worcester, Richard T. Roche of Mexico, Stephen P. Roche of Whitinsville, and Gerald K. Roche of West Brookfield; a sister, Frances E. Bergstrom of Worcester; and many nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by two sisters, Helena Greenwald and Ann M. Roche.
Mr. Roche was born in Northbridge, the son of Ambrose B. and Florence A. (Snyder) Roche. After serving in the Korean conflict he had a success career, culminating as New England sales supervisor for Stouffer’s Foods. After retirement, he learned Spanish and travelled often to his beloved Spain. An avid movie goer, he also enjoyed golfing, visiting museums, diligently following the stock market, and tending his rose bushes, of which he was very proud. Over the last few years, he gratefully relied on the loving care of Gerald and Mary Lou Roche.
The funeral is Tuesday, April 8th from O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue, with a mass at 10:00 A.M. in Our Lady of the Angels Church, 1222 Main Street. Burial will follow in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Whitinsville. Calling hours are from 4:00 until 7:00 P.M. Monday, April 7th in the funeral home.
