Shelby Jean Nicholson, 77, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, passed away Tuesday, April 1, 2014, at Phoebe Dorminy Medical Center in Fitzgerald.
Funeral services will be held 11 A. M., Friday, April 4, 2014 at The Paulk Funeral Home Chapel in Fitzgerald with the Rev. David Biggers and the Rev. David Ash officiating. Interment will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6 to 8 at the funeral home in Fitzgerald.
Mrs. Nicholson was born December 9, 1936 in Fitzgerald to the late William Chester and Lillie Mae Brown Seagroves. She lived in the community all of her life and was a former employee of Fitzgerald Mills, Modern Fibers, and Shaw Industries. She enjoyed cooking and loved her family dearly. Mrs. Nicholson was a member of Fitzgerald Church of God.
She is survived by her husband of 61 years: Gene Nicholson of Fitzgerald; a son: Randall & Becky (Biggers) Nicholson of Fitzgerald; four grandchildren: Brian Nicholson of Fitzgerald, Jeremy & Karli Nicholson of Jacksonville, North Carolina, Brandon Chaney and Kinsey Chaney, all of Fitzgerald; and two great-grandchildren: Jack Nicholson and Landon Nicholson. Several nieces and nephews also survive. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother: William C. Seagroves, Jr. and a sister: Betty Ann McCollum.
