Mary E. Inashima, of Woburn passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, March 30, 2014. She recently had celebrated her 93rd birthday.
She was the beloved wife of Dr. O.James Inashima with whom she shared 62 devoted years of marriage. The couple met while in high school, but began their romance during war time correspondence.
Born in Seattle, Mary graduated from MacDowell Dress Designing School in New York City before attending Berea College in Kentucky. She completed several evening courses at Northeastern University towards a bachelor’s degree in Art.
She was a long time member of the First Congregational Church of Woburn having served as a choir member, Sunday school teacher and a member of several church committees and social outreach groups. She was a Charter Member of the Woburn Guild of Artists and was a former president of the organization.
In addition to her loving husband, Mary is survived by her son John Harvey Inashima and daughter Jamie E. Inashima of Los Angeles, CA and daughter Cindy Custer and her husband Joseph Custer, Jr. of North Andover, MA and their children Emily and James (JJ) Custer. Mary also leaves behind many nieces, nephews and grand nieces and nephew and their children.

Friends and family are invited to attend a memorial service Friday April 4th 11AM at the Woburn First Congregational Church, 322 Main St Woburn. A private inurnment service will be at Woodbrook Cemetery Garden Mausoleum.
