Chevi (Chagaris) Paraskeva, age 95, of Falmouth, formerly of Wilmington passed away peacefully surrounded by her family, Saturday, March 29th at the Falmouth Hospital, following a brief illness. She was the beloved wife of the late Henry James Paraskeva. Born in Chalkis, Evoia, Greece, Chevi was the devoted daughter of the late John and Constantina (Kekos) Chagaris.
Chevi came to America from Palimari, Greece, at the age of 9 with her mother and brother to rejoin their father who had come here seven years earlier. They settled in Everett and her father died shortly thereafter before her sister, Helen was born. Chevi married her beloved Henry in 1941 and they lived in the South End of Boston before moving to Wilmington in 1950. In 2012, Chevi relocated to Falmouth to be near her daughters.
She was the devoted mother of Joan Anastos and her husband George of Woburn, Eugenie Potamis and her husband Gerald of Falmouth, and Joyce Twyman and her husband James of Methuen. She was the loving YiaYia to Alexa Coye and her husband Kevin, Cynthia Smith and her husband Ryan, Paul Anastos and his wife Christina, Gregory Potamis and his wife Lynn, Steve Potamis and his wife Nonna, Andrew, Alex and Greg Twyman. Great Grandmother of Colin, Micaela, Ryan, Carley, Casey, Lucas and Olivia. Sister of the late George Chagaris and Helen Kardaras.
A funeral service will be held at the Annunciation of the Virgin Mary Greek Orthodox Church, 70 Montvale Ave., WOBURN, Saturday, at 11:00 am. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours at the Church will be held prior to the service from 9:30 to 11 AM. Services will conclude with burial at Woodbrook Cemetery, Woburn.
