Joseph L. Porter, Sr., 90, passed away Sunday, March 30, 2014 at St. Vincent Hospital in Worcester.
He leaves a son; Joseph L. Porter, Jr. and his wife Jocelyne of Oxford, 2 daughters; Donna L. Bembenek of North Carolina and Linda J. Porter and her partner Glenn Thurber of North Brookfield, a sister; Jean F. Jacques of Wayland , 17 grandchildren and 29 great grandchildren.
He was predeceased by 2 daughters; Sally J. Porter-Trirayaphant who died in 1979 and Judith A. Porter who died in 1992.
Joseph was born in North Oxford, son of Joseph A. and Esther (Nyberg) Porter. He served in the U. S. Navy during WWII and saw action in Europe, Africa and the Pacific.
He worked at the Carlton Woolen Mill before retiring many years ago.
He was a Life Member of American Legion Post #205 in Rochdale, enjoyed going to flea markets and playing bingo at the casino.
There are No calling hours.
A Graveside Service for Joseph will be Friday, April 4, 2014 at 11 AM at North Cemetery in Oxford.
