Owens, Ben F. “Duke”, 75, passed away March 30, 2014. He was a member of Incarnation Catholic Church, a member of the St. Thomas Chapter of the Knights of Columbus while living in New Jersey. Ben began working as a licensed plumber and pipefitter at age 21 and retired from Geon Chemical. He enjoyed camping with his family and many happy times spent at Nolin Lake.
Ben was preceded in death by his parents, Mary Kathleen and Benjamin Owens; and siblings, Phyllis Walker, Nancy Morris, Daniel Owens, and Robert Owens.
He is survived by his wife, Mary “Jo Ann” (Banks) Owens; children, Anthony Owens, Mark Owens (Sherri), Theresa Jaimes, and Cynthia McFarland; grandchildren, Chris (California), Gayle (Florida), Jeremy, Mindy, Angela, Aaron, Carmen, and Adrian. Also surviving are his step-grandchildren, Matthew, Brad, and Amber; 12 great-grandchildren; sisters, Norma Whitehead (Tony) and Brenda Mitchell (Myron); sisters-in-law, Diana Elder and Brenda Drexler (Gene) and many nieces and nephews.
A Mass will be held in Ben’s honor 11 a.m. Thursday at Incarnation Catholic Church, 2229 Lower Hunters Trace, with burial to follow at Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be 2-8 p.m. Wednesday at Owen Funeral Home, 5317 Dixie Highway. Expressions of sympathy may be made to Hosparus.
